There’s a new line of tire-storage products that may help to ease the anxiety of compulsive garage organizers––you know who you are.

These products, designed by Motivation Design, located in Salisbury, MA, are the same folks who designed the Kurgo dog restraint system for cars.  They are sold through catalogues or on websites by outfits like Herrington’s, Classic Motoring Accessories, and Tire Rack.  Some tire manufacturers, like Michelin, also sell them in dealerships.

For the garage obsessed, I can’t think of anything more appealing––after every nut and bolt has been put in a labeled drawer––than Motivation Design’s Tire Totes. As spring approaches and you take off the snow tires, slip tire cozies onto those expensive tires, seal with Velcro and use the handle to carry them to their appointed place.

Then go one step more and put the set in its Tire Garage.  The Tire Garage ($49.99), which is not a separate architectural structure, but a soft container made of marine-grade canvas and textured industrial rubber, keeps the tires together.  Because the materials are weather resistant, The Tire Garage keeps them clean, dry and free from UV degradation––plus you can one up your neighbor.  The Tire Garage, like the Tire Totes, adjust to fit all brands of tires.  The Tire Totes retail for $21.99 a pair, or $42 for a set of four. 

Say you’ve spent a bundle on seasonal or special event wheels and you don’t want them scratched when you change wheels. Slide your wheels into wheel felts ($14.99 a pair), close them up and clip into the tire bags.  Now everything is together and wheel felts create a fully enclosed tire bag for extra protection. Is this neat?  Or what?
