What is the Carnival?
The automotive industry has seen various minivans come and go, but most have maintained the same classic minivan recipe that has made these family carriers so practical. In 2022, Kia tried to shake things up a bit by replacing its Sedona minivan with the all-new Carnival. For it, Kia took the utility and versatility expected from a minivan and matched it up with a more alluring design.
The 2024 Kia Carnival will likely be unchanged or have only minor changes to feature availability. As such, you can expect the same SUV-like body that gives the Carnival an unconventional style when compared to other minivans in the market. The Carnival also provides an abundance of space and comfort, highlighted by the optional reclining second-row lounge-style seating.
We expect the Carnival will also carry on with its 3.5-liter V6 engine that produces 290 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. This is a typical output for a minivan V6, and in most regards the Carnival drives like a typical minivan too. A couple of rival minivans — Chrysler Pacifica and Toyota Sienna — offer hybrid powertrains and all-wheel drive, but there's no indication that Kia will try to follow suit.
