2008 Toyota Aygo

Toyota is thinking smartsmart as in offering it's own competitor to the tiny car from Germany.
Inside Line has gotten word that Toyota is developing a tiny 2-seat microcar, called the
Aygo, to go head-to-head with the Smart car, and it will be offered for sale right here in the US of A, perhaps as early as 2008. If Toyota is jumping on the smart bandwagon, how long will it be before Honda, Nissan, Subaru, etc., all hitch a ride on the microcar express?

I think it looks too much like the Yaris two door and i hate the Yaris so well i hate this and The Smart fortwo is much cooler looking and i would buy the Smart before this even if this has more room inside.
Are there any plans for a diesel such as the 0.8L in the Smart?
It is not a competitor to Smart, it is the optional utility vehicle for the new Tundra that is an extra cost option that replaces the spare tire.
Flat tire or run out of fuel? Simply lower the Aygo from below it's storage area underneath the rear bed of the Tundra and drive it to get a new tire or fuel.
It's meant to raise the overall fuel economy rating of the Tundra. Since it will be labelled as part of the vehicle, the two mileage numbers (truck and tiny autobox) will be averaged for the window sticker. This will fool most Toyota loyalists into continuing to believe that Toyota is a green company, while hiding the truly hideous numbers Toyota's large trucks and SUVs really return.
No more hideous than the numbers your Avalanche gets Jerry...
Bob (running and ducking...)
Aygo already exists and it sold in Europe. It's a joint venture and it sold with a couple of different european nameplates, too.
That sketch is either the next generation, or an old sketch of the current model:

Don't bother running, it won't work! :D
But seriously, while GM / Chevrolet might like it to be otherwise, nobody looks at GM as a particularly "green" company. Toyota has actively fought for this image (despite the reality). So it's easy to poke a little fun at the new Tundra and this tiny car. ;-)
Sorry, but Aygo is one third of a set of Toyota (Aygo)/Citroen (C1)/Peugeot (107) triplets produced in Eastern Europe. It's a small four seater that's already on sale in Europe. Despite the fact they all come down the same line, the Toyota version seems to be the best sorted. But any of the three would be a neat city car for large U-S metro areas.
I would rather have this. Used to have a Smart Fortwo. Its a great car dont get me wrong, I sort of want a little more room inside.
Smart Fortwo is like 99 inchs long.
Plus the Aygo in Europe is about 135 inchs long.
Hope the revised version coming to North America will be like 115 inchs.
Wow... that's a cool car. I wanna know how tough its parts are... just like its brake calipers. Well, though even if its not tough I'll just buy from my trusted supplier...
