Ghosn, going, gone?

Carlos Ghosns is on the march again. The CEO reminded managers of Renault's commitment to boost its profit margin by 50 percent by 2009—or else!

"Commitment is a strong word," one manager piped up, "and circumstances have changed" since the marching orders were delivered earlier this year.
"It's not a target," snapped Mr. Ghosn, who considers the profit-margin increase mandatory. "Either management performs or it's out -- and that applies to me as well."

So does that really mean if Renault can't deliver, Ghosn and his gang will be gone? Stay tuned...

They should do well here. With a fuel-efficient Versa, a new Sentra and Altima, and a new G35, it should not be hard to achieve those goals, at least in North America.

Ghosn rhymes with phone which rhymes with gone.

I took it to mean that the managers would be replaced with a new team by Sir Carlos if they don't hit their numbers.

Yes, but isn't Sir Carlos the one responsible for those managers? If he truly holds himself accountable (for putting those poor performing managers in charge) as he stated, he should fire himself, no?

At the very least it makes for some good bar room discussions. :)

Isn't this article about Renault, not Nissan? Success at Nissan does not make success at Renault. Also, given the renderings of future Renault vehicles that've been posted here lately, I don't think Renault is exactly golden.
