Detroit Auto Show: Audi goes with Diesel V12 in Q7

The Q7 will be Audi's first BlueTec vehicle with a diesel, 3.0-liter engine. It will be sold in all 50 states in 2008. Audi thinks clean diesel could represent 10 percent of new car sales by 2015.

But the big news in Detroit is the V12 TDI concept Q7... This one has 730 pound-feet of torque and gets 20 mpg in combined city/highway driving. How cool is this car? Well, Audi had Seal singing "We're Never Gonna Survive" during the unveiling.

That's cool...right?

Awesome power and fuel economy, do you guys have any pics of the Q7 V12 TDI concept from the actual show? I have been looking for them.

These Q7's are quite nice but Im still weary of Audi reliability. Its not a car you want to keep after the warranty runs out.

Is this the same vehicle that was pulling a 747?

You can see pictures and more information on the Audi website @ the following link:

No. That was the current model Touareg V10 TDI. Maybe they'll pull an A380 with the V12 TDI.

It's really starting to resemble the proverbial 'German bank vault'.

Audi reliability????? it is still millions of light years ahead of every american car brand.

Uh, Karl, that Seal song was "Crazy".... Can't wait for Audi to wise up and send the US true high-performance diesel cars. That might spark a lot more sales in the coming years. Saw a lot of diesel Audis in Europe this past summer, including the A8L 4.2TDI. Fast, stylish and frugal -- now that's cool!!

Anybody else think something like this could maybe change a few American's minds about diesels? Only one way to find out, Audi...

If this engine can push a 3 ton monster from 0 to 60 under 5 second, i really want to see this engine in a 3000 lbs super car.

I would buy Audi in a minute if they would actually put something like this engine into the new R8 or the new RS6. Why not turn the sports car world on its head just like Audi did the racing world. This engine has never had a failure in 70+ races, this detuned and emission compliant masterpiece has to make into something beside the ugly SUV. Audi are you listening????
