Detroit Auto Show: Jaguar C-XF Concept

Time to play guess the grille

Jaguar was apparently not all that happy last year when some journalists said that the grille of its new XK looked like that of the Ford Taurus. So this year, with the introduction of the C-XF four-door coupe concept, Jag gave journalists a little hint to what they should say its grille looks like: The first Jaguar XJ sedan. And, indeed, it does have the same nearly-square shape. The recessed rectangle also looks a little like the punched-in grille of the now-dead Chevrolet Uplander... But you know somehow, placed on the otherwise gorgeous machine, we like it quite a lot. -- Daniel Pund

I'm warming up to it. Previously I complained about the lack of Jaguar-esque lines, but I certainly can't say there aren't enough lines. I don't know what to say about that central bulge down the centerline on the hood.

Number one reason you would buy this over a BMW/Audi/Benz is that it is NOT one of those three. The 3-series/5-series are hideous, the Audi is not exactly inspiring, and the Benz looks like a fancy taxi....I think jaguar hit the design cues right on this one because it is DIFFERENT and that will get me into the seat test-driving this baby more than anything else!
