Wrangler Unlimited sales backlogged

There have been some concerns about possible problems with the Jeep Unlimited equipped with the MyGIG™ system and the Freedom Top™, as they are hard to come by. It turns out that the only problem is not with those features, but in cranking out Jeeps, as their sales are smokin.'

D.W. Bodene, Dodge Ram/Dakota/Durango/Jeep Wrangler/Chrysler AspenProduct Communications head stated: "There are no production delays for the Wrangler Unlimited; they are being built with both the MyGIG™ system and the Freedom Top™. We're building the new Wranglers as fast as we can, but it's a vehicle whose popularity exceeded our expectations (Wrangler sales up 63% in February, and 124% in January). Unfortunately for our customers, the Wrangler's popularity has led to a backlog of orders."

So Jeep is outselling Fj almost 2-1... Hmm, maybe some people are starting to notice that you can't see out of the FJ...

Maybe people noticed the roof doesn't come off the FJ and it's bases at $10K more.

And it only looks a little like a classic instead of being a classic.

Absolutely no shock given the proven history of Jeep's products. The latest redesign has brought many much needed upgrades, and basically allowed the Wrangler to leave a foot (tire?) in two worlds - decent ergonomics, ride quality and comfort for those who that matters to, and still class leading off road ability and reliability to those that seek those traits.

The FJ is doing quite well. Remember it shares a platform with the 4Runner, so it probably cost Toyota very little to put it out (unlike the Tundra).

Consumer Reports just published their annual auto issue, and the FJ came back as the compact SUV with the most satisfied owners. Basically they asked owners if they would buy the same thing again, and the FJ ended up best in class.

I agree visibility is poor, but buyers realize this and love it anyway, in fact they love it more than any other vehicle in its class.

Back to the Unlimited - no surprise at all to see the 4 door selling well.

I wonder how many of those 9240 are 4 doors, vs. the old style 2 doors? It would be interesting to see FJ vs. the 2 door alone.

The bummer with the FJ is that it is a brand new design, so there was absolutely no reason why it should have such poor visibility. The original FJ sure didn't.
