Born-again FJ40 Land Cruiser: the TLC Icon

2007 marks the 50th anniversary of Toyota in America and 40 years of the legendary SCORE Baja 1000. In 1973 Toyota won their first off-road race, the Baja 1000, in an FJ40 Land Cruiser. TLC commemorates these two anniversaries with the new SCORE BAJA 1000 Limited Edition ICON.
Featuring the top designs and equipment gathered from the last four decades of off-road racing, the SCORE BAJA 1000 Limited Edition ICON is ready for all on and off road adventures. TLC has pulled out all the stops developing and designing the SCORE BAJA 1000 Limited Edition ICON. These exclusive designs may be incorporated into regular production ICON models in the near future.
The SCORE BAJA 1000 Limited Edition ICON began life as a singular prototype in celebration of these two special anniversaries. Due to overwhelming demand the SCORE BAJA 1000 Limited Edition ICON will be offered in a very limited, numbered series to adventurous souls who are interested in taking a bit of Baja adventure back home! As you have come to expect from ICON, there is nothing like it! ! 2008 ICON pricing starts at $84,000 with two new body style offerings including a pick up and a 22” stretched wheelbase variant of our original model. The special SCORE BAJA 1000 Limited Edition ICON is expected to be priced at $145,000.
As with all of Jonathan Wards' design work the SCORE BAJA 1000 Limited Edition ICON features extensive innovative design details and creative surface coatings. Highly durable clear velvet powder coated, hand brushed aluminum body with black crocodile powder coated trim. Textured pewter finish dash with Racepak instruments and Lowrance navigation. Full recovery gear and adventure support systems on board include: Racing jack, Powertank, ARB air compressor, Warn XP cradle mount winch, IPF HID lighting system, and a rockin' stereo system made to be heard above the roar.
With a 450 HP alloy LS6 delivering power through a modified 4L65E automatic and a shift on the fly Atlas II transfer case to one-ton Dynatrac axles... the ICON BAJA 1000 is ready to launch.
Advanced triangulated four link coil suspension with Sway-A-Way Race Runner remote reservoir coilover shocks & nitrogen bump stops, DJ Safety limiter straps and dual sway bars... assure a controlled landing on any terrain.
The SCORE BAJA 1000 Limited Edition ICON will be built by the special Advanced Projects Team at TLC in Los Angeles. Although all ICON's are hand built, the Baja will be built off-line, and crafted by the designer and the original fabrication team in a numbered and signed series. As part of the ICON BAJA buying experience, TLC will offer an optional drivers training course at Wide Open Baja. See the SCORE BAJA 1000 Limited Edition ICON at THE 2007 SEMA SHOW, SCORE BAJA 1000 contingency and at the Wide Open Baja Horsepower Ranch pre-race party in Ensenada Mexico!

Those look fun.
I hope the rumored convertible FJ Cruiser ends up looking like these.
An LS6 in an FJ? Sure, I'll take one!
