The 2009 Silverado Hybrid made its debut this morning at the 2007 LA Auto Show. By applying GM's two-mode hybrid system and electronically variable transmission to the existing 6.0-liter V8 in the Silverado, the hybrid version becomes the most fuel-efficient full-size truck around.
Chevrolet also announced its intentions to aggressively promote fuel-saving technologies within the brand's current and future lineups. One way to start the promotion is by driving all of your "green" vehicles on stage at once... So joining the Silverado on stage were the Volt, Tahoe Hybrid, Malibu Hybrid, Aveo5 and fuel-cell Equinox.
Chevrolet general manager Ed Peper (above) announced that "Chevrolet is determined to be the fuel solutions leader in the global automotive market." They won't be alone. "Green" is still the talk of the town, and we suspect that by the time Silverado Hybrid goes on sale late next year a competitive full size hybrid will be on its heels. -- Mike Schmidt, Vehicle Testing Coordinator

The Aveo5 is considered green? I guess so since it gets the best mileage of the bunch (Volt excluded).
I wonder how well this will sell.
So far the hybrids that focused primariloy on peak fuel efficiency have done better than the bigger engined ones (V6+electrics).
