2007 LA Auto Show: The Pork of Minis
Make sure your teen keeps his/her eyes open for this SAT anagram.
Pork: The Other White Meat :: Clubman: The Other Mini
Mini chose Los Angeles for the North American introduction of its new Clubman. This is the third Mini model, with a larger crossoverlike vehicle to come, and a further step in "moving Mini from a cult car to culture." I just love auto show slogans. Pricing for the base Cooper Clubman was announced as $20,600 and $24,100 for the Cooper S Clubman, both including 3-year free maintenance. Although we described this stretched Mini in detail in the First Drive, let me just add how much of a difference the added 9.4 inches of length makes for cargo space and backseat legroom. With the driver seat all the way back (as I drive), I can actually fit my hand sideways between the front and backseats! If you've ever seen the backseat of the regular Cooper, you'll realize that, yes, the exclamation mark is warranted. -- James Riswick, Associate Editor
