GM garners 4 of 6 nominations for 2008 North American Car and Truck of the Year award

This could be a big year for the General at the Detroit Auto Show, as they have secured four of the six contender slots for the 2008 North American Car and Truck of the Year. The Chevy Malibu and Cadillac CTS will face off against the Honda Accord for 2008 North American Car of the Year award; and the Buick Enclave, Chevy Tahoe Hybrid will take on the Mazda CX9 for 2008 North American Truck of the Year award. The winners will be announced at the NAIAS in Detroit.

So, what do you think are the chances of GM sweeping these awards?

My first thought is that I think we really do need a new
definition of what a "truck" is, as I sure don't consider the Enclave
or CX9 trucks; but that's an entirely different discussion.

Since when can vans be eligible for Truck of the Year awards?

And why is the textbox for comments so small?

LOL I noticed that too about the text box... but anyway, Enclave can definitly win if judging is based more on luxury and comfortability while on the other hand if judging is more biased towards being sporty and not as much on comfort then people will choose the CX-9.

Same goes with the CARS CTS will win if people go more with luxury and Accord will probably win over the beautiful Malibu just because its the perfect blend of everything, although Malibu has it beat on styling.

Enclave and Malibu will win.

The Lambdas are a hit, and Buick is competing on its own, so no siblings to steal votes away.

The Malibu is a big improvement over its predecessor, more so than the CTS or Accord. If we think about it, the Malibu actually has the same engine as the base CTS, at a lower price.
