Spy photos: Smaller Rolls Royce sedan spotted

It’s been rumored for years, but these are the first conclusive spy photos of the smaller Rolls Royce sedan codenamed RR4. Tucked in between a couple next-generation BMW 7 Series mules, the RR4 prototype has a unique front fascia that is clearly influenced by the larger Phantom sedan. When the mule pulled out for a test drive, its overall size suggested that it was riding on the same chassis as its 7 Series companions. At the 2008 Detroit Auto Show, Rolls Royce CEO Ian Robertson confirmed that the RR4 will go on sale in 2010 and feature a newly developed engine.

Boy, these test mules sure look odd!

Would I be crass for saying that the mule looks like a Chrysler 300? I think that might be a problem.

@Roar

I had the exact same thought.

I'm sure that this baby Rolls will sell for people who think the Flying Spur looks too boy racer, what with its resemblance to the GT. However, I think that this car needs to be set well apart from the 7 series in some unique, Phantomesque sort of way. My vote would be to do the suicide doors. If someone can do it on their Altima, BMW can pull it off, too.

It does look like a 300.

I'm still interested in it though.. as long as they can keep the price the same as others in its class.
