2010 Pontiac G8 Sport Truck: 2008 New York Auto Show

So what do you think? Should they call it the 2010 Pontiac G8 Curtis? That's what 50 Cent (real name: Curtis Jackson) suggested today at the world debut of Pontiac's truckified version of the G8 sedan. It's called the Sport Truck for now, but Pontiac is running an online contest at www.pontiac.com/namethatcar to find a new label for its "segment-bending" G8. And not only can you suggest a new name, you can actually win one of these oddly styled, yet sufficiently powered V8 performance trucks.

Although Mr. Cent professes nothing but love for all things Pontiac, he didn't have much to say about the Sport Truck. He loved the G8 GXP and couldn't stop talking about the Solstice Coupe, but when it came to the Sport Truck, he could only manage a "yeah, yeah, it's uh, something." Yes, 50, well put.  -- Ed Hellwig, Senior Editor, Inside Line

This vehicle makes even less sense for Pontiac than the SSR did for Chevrolet

I will never understand why car companies get all these artists, actors, celebrities and others to promote their new vehicle. I dont mind when they get NASCAR drivers or other drivers to promote the car because at least they`re connected to the company in some way. Let 50 Cent stick to rap and not get involved in promoting Pontiacs.

Haha, I like how 50 is promoting Pontiacs while he talks about cars like Lambos in some of his songs.

"yeah, yeah, it's uh, something."

Can't the Pontiac PR wags train him a little better than that?

This makes more sense than the SSR because it actually can carry a decent payload.

Wow a new sled for American's that have not graduated from high school. If a pole was taken, the majority of buyers that partake in this vehicle is spending more then half their income on car payments. Or it will be sitting in the Pontiac parking lots for dealers to say they have on on display. What a waist, Pontiac and GM need to a clue about what Americans want to drive.

Lol, alsorl, it's poll not pole, and waste, not waist.

Maybe you guys should take a trip out here to flyover country and see just how many El Caminos and Rancheros are still on the road being driven. I average seeing 3 or 4 a day, and it is not the same ones over and over. In the last month I also saw a GMC Caballero Diablo that was in near show car condition, and it had a load of broken limbs in the back. This will sell better than you think, but they really should consider a torque-happy pushrod V6 or a diesel as the primary engine.
