If you're going to make a stripped tuner, it would be just wonderful to include a spec racing series to go with it. I'd be in.

i like a car like this. a 'real' world car; affordable.
G37? good car, MB E330i? supoerb car.. but they're beyond my reality yet.
with under 30K price tag, 300+HP, rigid chassis, plenty of safety options.. this is a real deal. good.

"with under 30K price tag, 300+HP, rigid chassis, plenty of safety options.. this is a real deal. good."
or you could pick up a Pontiac G8 (in dealers today) with 360hp in a V8. I drove one yesterday and was impressed.

Did they happen to mention which V6 it's getting? A Stripped-out tuner model sounds okay, but how long do we have to wait for the new V8 to get into this thing? It is the Genesis coupe, isn't it?

this is solely my opinion... if Hyundai is building the Genesis to compete with the high end Japanese and Europeans, why not make the Genesis coupe a BMW 6 and Mercedes CL fighter?

Hello Hyundai!! It is going to be interesting. They are offering a RWD targeting both lower and mid level price catgory. The V6 and the four cyl. turbo.

I think it's a great idea. Turbos are more tuner friendly.
Think about it, for the Ecplise, the aftermarket collapsed when they went to V6 power. The DSM turbos had a huge tuner following.

This car, if successful, will change everything we know about imported cars, and specifically sporty ones. This coupe and the Kia coupe "concept" will finally give the enthusiast some real choices in the market. Please, GM, get back in the fight! It's shaping up to be a fun second fuel crisis...

I'll bet my money that it's going to be same 290hp 2.0L Theta II engine that was shown with the Kia Koup.

I love this car, it's like a G35 for $10k less. The Hyundai's also have a great warrenty and reliability ratings. I drove a new G37 and G35 the cockpit seemed a bit cramped, not a lot of room. The Genesis coupe seems more open to the driver. And once again, save $10k to $15k. Sign me up.

I posted a comment on the maxima forum that some sales persons are commenting there.
82nis comments that he is a nissan owner and plans to move to hyundai, and here the same guy comments that he is a Hyundai owner.
Well just to let you know, it takes something better than Theta to win VQ owners' hearts. In case you don't know, VQ is a world benchmark V6 engine that Nissan is known for.

sara12....i am not a salesman of some sort. but i am talking is overall the design that nissan is going through. i am basically saying that i have been a nissan fanatic all my life..even before i was born in 1982. and IN CASE YOU DON'T KNOW SARAH12 i've known about this engine since it was the 3.0L VQV6 from the 300zx. and yes it is a benchmark but didnt land on the wardsauto ten best engine on january. that victory goes to infiniti, and yes i know they are nissan's luxury division, for their VQ37 that is in their G37 coupe (which is called the skyline coupe in japan). and in actuality the current 3.5L VQV6 lost some of its refinement and that is why they made the VQ35HR and why it won a year before. so i do know my information. and get your information right before you come to conclusions that i am a salesman. and the reason why i went back to hyundai is that one it was my first new car that i bought a new car from and two current nissan designs are ugly and doesnt fulfill this nissan fanatics taste for their products. and wardsauto actually gave an engine award to HONDA for their new 3.5L V6.

I will say that I currently own a Tiburon, and it is a fun car to drive, even if it is less refined than some of the competitors. If the Genesis coupe is the one to replace it, I say it is at least worth a test drive. 200+ horses from the turbo 4 and a 300+ horse V6 sound like a great team of powertrains. The rear drive layout should give it excellent handling given good weight distribution and proper suspension tuning, which I hope Hyundai gets it right. if the turbo 4 turns out to be pretty torquey, the SE turbo 4 might just be the best value, well at least until that 4th model comes. Given that the turbo 4 models will be somewhat lighter, buyers may be willing to sacrifice a few horses in the name of better handling. Given its credentials, I wouldnt be surprised to see the Genesis grab a "car of the year" trophy from Motor Trend (for both the sedan and coupe).

This car is wicked sick & the SE pkg is a must. Unless they unleash the V/8 or a turbo version of the 6 cyl, I'm going to have a hard time deciding between the turbo 4 banger & the 6 cylinder knowing I can easily get 300 HP out of the world 4 cyl motor.
