Acura to offer NavWeather on '09 RL and TSX

In the latest bit of technology, Acura will be adding real-time weather alerts to the 2009 RLs and TSXs equipped with the Technology Package which includes navigation and XM radio. It will alert drivers to developing weather events such as hail, tornado, icy roads, flooding and other dangerous storm conditions.

I remember reading about this a while back, in an article pertaining to Japanese-spec Hondas equipped with this capability. Now this very worthwhile feature is coming here. I think this is a terrific idea. Adding this capability to in-dash Nav units makes the cost much more palatable to those concerned about the cost.

Here's Inside Line's take: XM's New NavWeather Service To Debut on 2009 Acura TSX and RL

When the cows lie down, you know there will be a storm.

When the dog starts shivering, same thing.

That's the old fashioned weather alert system. :D

That's great if you can get a cow in your back seat. As to the dog (or cow), would you rather give up a seatbelt to either, at the expense of leaving someone at home?

Also, the dog and cow can't tell you what you're getting. There's big difference between a thunder storm, tornado, flooded or icy roads.

Why won't this be added on the 09 TL? That just happens to be the car that fits me best. And it's a comparative bargain.

I think it will be on the 2009 TL as the navi units are similar. Look for it on the RDX and MDX also within the next couple of years.
