2008 Mercury Mariner

The 2008 Mercury Mariner has just been announced, and will go on sale early in 2007. Here's Inside Line's report.

Besides the new face-lifted styling, it receives refinements to help reduce interior NVH levels by 12 percent. In addition, chassis upgrades and new Electric Power Steering (EPS) system improve Mariner’s car-like ride and handling without sacrificing off-road ability. The Mariner features one of the most advanced safety package in the small SUV segment, including standard side curtain air bags and AdvanceTrac with RSC, Ford Motor Company’s unique roll stability control system. The Mariner Hybrid is also updated with refined control systems to improve drivability and overall performance.

I think it's fair to assume that similar upgrades will be found on the 2008 Ford Escape.

I like the front grille and the fact that it is a full time hybrid

The exterior design doesn't do much for me but that interior. I'll need to see it in person, but it looks beautiful from the pictures. I think Mercury is beginning to distinguish itself with it's interiors. Hope it's vastly different from the Escape.

This car is so ugly, it's offensive.

Ugly personally for should get rid of merc. They do not have any unique cars at all. Mercury is going the same route as plymouth. Except unlike plymouth which represented a car that was more durable than a yugo but with a low price mercury is in the midlevel range. It has not anything unique in recent times with the exception of the cougar and the shortlived maruader. Ford might as well cut its losses and get rid of mercury. Mercury was known for the wild horsepwer of its original cougar now its just a another badge engineered mess
