I find it weird how sometimes cars and motorbikes make it into the public's hands before the press gets to test them.

It's the silly embargo process.
A few Edmunds members have driven the Subaru Forester yet I've only seen one single preview (Inside Line's).
Even then, they drove a JDM model, so not a single review of the US-spec Forester - except from average Joes!

The car looks better in person but it just looks so ungainly...like the 3 series coupe, it seems something is just off with the clubman's proportions.

I think it the silver paint around the rear. It would look better w/o that paint.

I agree that it would look much better without the silver paint on the back, but I think that that is intentional so that it does stand out from the rest of the line-up. Otherwise people may not differentiate it from the regular Cooper.

I think Jeremy Clarkson said it best when he said that he would rather have bird flu than own this car. Minimal cargo space gain, same stupid interior ergonomics, and reduced driving dynamics all for an inflated price.

do mini's sell for below msrp? or do the dealers have the same bmw attitude, where you have to be grateful to even look at their cars.

I can't wait to see a full test of this car. By the way, the back looks better with the black trim than that awful silver.

Opt,
BMWs sell for MSRP? Where? Unless you're talking M, you can always negotiate on a BMW.
As for Minis - the dealerships treat you great. But they'll gouge you until you bleed if you let them (true of Honda and Lexus dealers in California too).

Drove one last night. The longer wheelbase smooths out the ride somewhat over a MCS. And with the fold-out doors, there is a considerable amount of useful space in the back, unless you are comparing it with a SUV or wagon. And with the sport button on, it is just as peppy and fun to drive as the Cooper. Now if they could just do something about that enormous speedometer and silly center stack.
