2008 Geneva Auto Show Preview: Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupe

I've stated before that I think the Rolls-Royce Phantom has the most commanding presence of any car on the road. Forget Ferraris or any other exotic, as nothing can turn heads like this Roller. Now we have some official photos of the new Phantom Coupe, and it does nothing but further the image of this imposing vehicle.

Stickering for $400K, orders are already well into 2009 if not later for deliveries, proving that their clients are recession-proof. The car will debut at the Geneva auto show.

Here's Inside Line's take: 2008 Geneva Auto Show Preview: Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupe

The headlights look dumb...but I like it otherwise.

How great is the second / side shot of the car? Squint my eyes and I see hints of classic high end cars of the past.

That last picture looks like a 1:18 model. I love the flipdown trunk. I don't care of it's useful or not, it's cool!

I imagine it's far beyond the fiscal capabilities of Edmunds, but I'd be interested to know what it's like to own one of these (RR or Bentley) for a year.

The craftsmanship and attention to detail is what sets these types of cars apart from the rest.

My only complaint with the car is that the steering wheel looks too plain, I'd like to see it trimmed in the same wood used on the dash.

Estreka you're right the bottom picture looks like a toy model. I'd love to get one if they ever made it.

Those reverse opening doors are awesome BTW.

If you've never seen or been in a newer Rolls Royce (since being under BMW's stewardship), you'll have no appreciation for the sheer size of these vehicles. It really is something to behold and if you get the chance to drive (or be driven in one) you have this awkward feeling that a car THIS big should NOT accellerate like it does. Amazing, unique vehicles, as they should be for their cost of acquisition.

I don't like the mish-mash of old and new, but I doubt they care much what I think, given I could never afford one.

How come the Phantom Coupe doesn't offer a moonroof?
