Confirmed: Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback coming Stateside

First reports of about the Lancer Sportback indicated that this might be a Europe-only model. Now it's been confirmed that it will be coming to the United States as well. Pictured above is the Mitsubishi Prototype-S concept, which will debut at Geneva, and is very close to what we can expect to see in showrooms.

So this is good news for Mitsubishi fans. It's also bad news for Subaru fans as the two brands often butt heads going after customers, at least in terms of AWD sporting models.

Here's Inside Line's take: Confirmed: Mitsubishi To Bring Lancer Sportback to U.S

It's a shame it ended up looking more like a Suzuki Reno than the beautiful concept.

Just what I was thinking, ateix.

What's so bad about the way it looks? It's very much agressive looking just like the Evo sedan. To call it a Suzuki Reno is an insult to such an awesome car.

I don't know, it's just a weird mix between hatchback (ala Mazda6) and actual wagon (ala WRX) for me to really like it. It really kills me because I like wagons and hatches so much, yet I like the EVO so much better than the STI.
