Mitsubishi to offer Twin Clutch SST on Outlander and other models

Back in early November I blogged about seeing more DSGs being used in the future, even on mainstream models (Dual-Clutch Transmissions to increase fivefold). Now we have news Mitsubishi has announced plans to offer their 6-speed automated manual Twin Clutch SST on Outlander SUV.

In fact Mitsubishi will also be offering this feature on other models in the not too distant future, as they see this as a way to offer both fuel savings and enhanced performance on their vehicles.

No word yet as to when (or if) this pairing will be sent Stateside.

Full story here.

It'd be pretty sick to, uh...appropriate this kind of transmission for that 09 Cobalt SS, methinks.

I hope we get it, but I doubt we will. It'd be even nicer to get a small diesel with it.

That's pretty cool.

In the Outlander, the customers want automamtics, so you won't get people complaining the way they do about an EVO not being equipped with a full manual trans.

The Outlander has paddle shifters now, but it's hooked up to a slushbox. This would complete the package.

I think it's a great idea.
