Kirk Kerkorian buys 4.7% of Ford

The man is back and is now dancing with Ford. Kirk Kerkorian's Tracinda just announced the Ford stock purchase, signaling that he's not through with dabbling in the domestic auto industry. It's also a signal that maybe Ford is doing something right, as under CEO Alan Mulally, the corporation is showing some signs of recovery, and this Tracinda is more a vote of confidence than anything.

So after two episodes of "Dancing with the [automotive] Stars," Chrysler and GM; he's back with a new dance partner. Will the third time be a charm?

Oh, one more thing: Kerkorian may not be finished yet, as he has hinted at buying up to 20 million more shares. Stay tuned, as this could be more fun than watching judges Bruno Tonioli and Len Goodman sniping at one another.

Here's AutoObserver's take: Kerkorian's Tracinda Builds Stake in Ford

Here's Inside Line's take: Kerkorian Makes It a Clean Sweep of Detroit

I wonder how long it'll be before he begins planning on a Ford/Nissan partnership.

This man has a thing with being a control freak...He couldnt have his way with Chrysler, so he sold his shares of stock in the company.

GM sad no to his plan of Friendship with Ghosen and he sold the stock he owned in them.

So I wonder if history will repeat itself when the Ford Family tells him to F**k-off, dont mess with 'our' company?!

What do you think?

Who cares if he's a control freak? He had the money and the position when he owned stock in GM to make requests like that. GM decided against his idea so he took his business elsewhere. Nothing wrong with that. Besides, he had some pretty good ideas for GM (like kill Hummer and sell Saab) and they still gave him the proverbial middle finger.

I hope his influence in Ford is better recieved than it was at Chrysler and GM.
