SEMA: 2010 Chevrolet Camaro Concepts

General Motors has given us almost too much warning on vehicles that will be hitting the streets way down the road. Case in point - the all-new 2010 Camaro, seen in the 2007 movie "Transformers", will hit dealer showrooms shortly after production starts in mid-February at GM's Oshawa, Ontario facility. We learned a month ago that the Camaro starts at $22,995 MSRP for the V-6-powered LS model and $30,995 for the V-8-powered Camaro SS (all prices include $750 destination charge). GM says that customer ordering opened on Oct. 13th after more than 600,000 enthusiasts had already requested information on the Camaro since its production was announced. All this pre-production hype and interest should get sales off to a running start.

Four Camaro concept vehicles shown at SEMA last week in Las Vegas will stimulate buyers to personalize and upgrade the rebirth of this 1960s muscle car.

Handsome in a matte monochromatic black finish, this Camaro is powered by a production 300 horsepower 3.6-liter V6 engine. I grew up in my father's black cars, own three black vehicles so I would have to say this would be my preference.

This blue-and-yellow Camaro GS Racecar Concept with a production LS3 V8 and a Tremec
six-speed manual transmission was inspried by Mark Donohue's championship-winning Camaro from the 1969 Trans Am series and developed by North Carolina-based Riley Technologies.

The 2010 Chevrolet Camaro trades on the Car Stock Exchange with Edmunds.com predicting sales of 36,000 in the first full six months on the market. The SEMA concepts stir imagination and possibly pre-orders.
