Chevy's Small Car Triple Threat: Cruze, Spark, Volt

Chevy Cruze554.jpg

The 2011 Chevrolet Cruze five-passenger sedan replaces the Cobalt as a small Malibu and will have either a 140 horsepower 1.4-liter four-cylinder Turbo engine or a 138 horsepower 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine mated to a five-speed manual transmission or Chevrolet's first six-speed automatic transmission in the compact segment. The Cruze will be offered in base, LS, LT and LTZ models when it appears in U.S. showrooms in April 2010.

The 2011 Chevrolet Volt is an extended-range electric vehicle that has a range of up to 40 miles using lithium-ion battery packs. Beyond 40 miles, a small engine-generator creates additional electricity to extend the range of the Volt several hundred additional miles. The Volt arrives in November 2010.

The Beat goes on but as the 2011 Chevrolet Spark when it debuts at the Geneva Auto Show in March. The name Beat didn't seem to work in some cultures. The Spark goes on sale in 2011.
