Bye-Bye Nissan
Wow, Nissan is leaving Tokyo West (Or is that Tokyo East? I guess it depends on how you look at it) to take up residence in Tennessee. I must admit that, while the rumors had been flying for some time, I seriously didn't think it would happen. Every major Asian car maker is based in SoCal, so this represents a drastic change for them (not that I particularly disagree with it)...
One item occurred to me: We just had an election in California, and none of the props passed. It could be argued that the props were generally pro-business, and they certainly represented "change" in a state that most people feel needs change. The fact that none of them passed means, IMHO, that no change will be coming in the near term.
Wonder if this had any influence on Nissan's final decision to go...

- Domestic Manufacturers Problems/Challenges, Nissan

Doesn't surprise me. California is a terrible place to run a business. Plenty of better places in the world to live than there....
(Spoken from a former Californian). Good luck, Nissan employees.
As long as they continue to build desirable and exciting product - does it really matter where they are located?
I am sure that not all employees will make the transition - maybe Nissan is counting on that to thin out its workforce. Even if they replace all that left, the new hires most likely will not command as high of a wage.
Financially it seems like a smart decision. Only time will tell how it all works out.
I think you just nailed it. Ghosn will look like a genius in the end. With tools available today, it really won't matter where they work.
