Classic Center stuffed with Classic Mercedes

I had the good fortune of visiting the newly opened Mercedes-Benz Classic Center
in Irvine, California this weekend. The M100 club was having their annual meet in Los Angeles and, obviously, it made sense for them to visit the Classic Center and take in its many features and amazing cars. Personally, I just love the idea of a place were I can either buy or service a classic M-B product. I saw the garage area, complete with hydrualic lifts, and was told there are approximately 40,000 parts available for cars dating back to 1945...

Even better, if the Classic Center doesn't have a part you need they can and will remanufacture/fabricate the item. This means I can finally buy that 1970 Mercedes-Benz 300 SEL 6.3 I've been thinking about, and then have a completely reliable place to get work done on it. Their first retail customer has already had the horn on his 300SL repaired. Oh, and if you can't afford to buy or service a classic Mercedes-Benz you can just hang out in the lobby and ogle everything from a 1972 280SL to a 1923 Targa Florio. Or you can pick up a die-cast model, an SLR McLaren watch, or a coffee table book. I wish more companies would do this sort of thing. Can you imagine a Ford-sponsored classic center where everything from a Model T to a Shelby Mustang can be worked on? Of course, they'd have to specify which version of the Zephyr model is allowed on the premises...
