Here's something you don't see everyday -- a fully functional drive-in movie theatre. This one was called the "Family Drive-In" and we passed it in north-central Pennsylvania. It had all the fix-ins I (barely) remember from that era. The signs outside the gate included "Lights Out Please" and "FM Radio Sound Only" in hand-painted script. I think the last drive-in movies I saw were a double feature of Terminator 2
and Batman Returns
in 1992 in Denver...
Plus we all have home theatres now anyway, right?

There is one in San Diego. My sister and her family go to it for kids movies as they know my little 3 year old niece will fall asleep. It's actually a good way for people with kids to see new movies and NOT bother other people in a theater.

There's one just outside my home town in WV too. We occasionally go see a movie there whenever we're in to visit.

But there is at least *one* in California! There is a drive-in theater located off the Cal Expo Center in Sacremento. Went to it about 2 years ago, and it seemed pretty good to me.

I just looked it up - its the Sacramento 6 drive in theater (the exact name). However, this article says its closing down after this summer (oh no!). I think it would make a good Edmunds feature story.

No guarantee on whether you'd want to go there or not, but there's the Pacific Vineland Drive-In over in the City of Industry. Not too terribly inconvenient from LA.

The Sac 6 in Sacramento, CA is alive and well, I'm headed there tonight.
