Accord Coupe - Honda stays in, Toyota Bails Out
The new Accord Coupe concept looks good, but I would have painted it a different color. It shares too many design cues with the recently revealed Nissan Altima coupe, and with them both painted the exact same shade... Well, let's just say that a quick walk between the Honda and Nissan stands feels like deja vu all over again.
I do like the design, however, as the current Accord always looked a little flabby to me...
More power and better mileage is another promise that buyers will appreciate.
Interesting that Toyota has bailed on the coupe market by dropping the Solara, but obviously Honda and Nissan feel there's money to be made.

Well, it's less bland than the current coupe, but I'm not blown away. I'll reserve judgement until I see it in person next week.
Honda has always styled the sedan much more conservatively than the coupe. If they do that in this case I'm afraid the sedan will put me to sleep, much like the current model. (And before any Accord owners get their underwear in a bunch, I think the Accord is a wonderful, wonderful, but boring sedan).
It looks like a mix of the last Nissan 240 SX, Tiburan, Scion tC and Altima coupe. Then again, anything is better than the corny soft looking current coupe. Wow, are those fog lamps on a Honda product? Global warming is screwing up everything.
I think the Accord looks a bit more contemporary than the Altima, which looks a tad too 2002, IMO.
I am generally pleased, though I wish the front was more aggressively styled. Curious to know what kind of power it will put out.
This Accord looks better than the Altima... the Altima tail lights freak me out. Toyota did not bail out. did they not already say a Camry coupe will be made, and that it just won't be called the "Solara".
Certainly looks better than any Nissan or Toyota. Actually looks like Honda should look in first place. Last 10 years Honda was superboring trying to compete in blandness with Toyota
what doest look better than the Solara? Not much that I can think of. This car is too blocky but I'm sure it will sell very well because its an Accord and that's really what matters.
I like the design on this Accord. I'm not fond of the current Accord design.
Eager to see what the lines of the Accord sedan and how the rear is styled.
I like this design better than the current "slabby" Accord coupe, and better than what I've seen of the Altima coupe.
I like the more upright windshield that gives the car a ready-to-pounce look. I think there are many nice elements - the diving shoulder line has a BMW-like crease; the line around the wheel arches ties together from under the fog lights to the rear tail lights; and the seams on the front bumper and hood are nicely done.
We'll have to see how it looks in production, and with the inevitable smaller wheels.
Indeed this coupe is attractive and as with past Accord Coupes, they will be a hit. As far as the Toyota midsize coupe goes, I think Toyota's biggest problem with past Camry coupes and the Solara was the sporty factor. Toyota has stepped up its game with styling and that well-loved 3.5 V-6. If there was ever a good time to release a coupe based on the Camry, then this is the generation for it. Lastly, keep in mind that Toyota keeps most releases under tight wraps, so who knows what they may have up their sleeves.
Pretty nice looking coupe, not sure which I like better, the Accord or Altima
I hope that Honda has worked on its quality and dealer service. My wifes Odyssey minivan has had its transmission rebuilt, rotors replaced twice, sliding door fell of its track onto my sons foot, dash rattles, seat heaters will not work consistantly, and on top of that, the dealer service personal are a bunch of know nothing clowns that couldn't change a tire. Ask anyone sitting in the service waiting area at any Honda dealership if they would ever buy another Honda . Make sure you know where the nearest exit is when you ask though.
