"which is faster in real-world conditons:" Perhaps you should qualify that with "real-world conditions as experienced in temperate regions such as Southern California". These cars are much more evenly matched when real weather conditions in much harsher climates are taken into consideration.
No question that on a track or in ideal conditions the BMW will be both faster and more engaging to drive.
