2007 Mitsubishi Outlander: Sluggish Throttle Response

I like our 2007 Mitsubishi Outlander just fine. It's comfortable and not too huge to maneuver about the city, I dig its nifty paddle shifters now that I've got the hang of them, and I think it's pretty stylish-looking. The only teeny weeny issue I have, if we have to call it anything, is the sluggish throttle response.
This is more apparent when you're starting from stop or cruising in a parking garage and tap the throttle to go a little faster...
There's a bit of a lag until the power kicks in. I never noticed it before until I had the Outlander last night. I was backing out of my car port and tapped the accelerator a little for more power. But since it didn't respond right away, I pressed the pedal more and ended up making the tires chirp. Even in stop and go traffic, I had to be really careful about how much I tapped the pedal for fear of freaking out the driver in front of me.

i personally have the same problem with my 2006 civic coupe. My supposition is that it has to do with drive-by-wire throttles. Does this have that? my guess is that it takes the ECU or whatever controls it to register the amount of pressure applied and then it reaches the engine all at once and it lurches forward. in my civic, its more of a damper on fun more than a problem (never had stop-and-go issues). Does this car rev in steps too? (2000, then apply enough pressure and it jumps right up to 3000 and holds)?
Cool, this cars got attitude.
Hi Caroline. There was a Technical service bulletin for the Outie last month which summarizes "ENGINE CONTROL MODULE REPROGRAMMING FOR THROTTLE HESITATION" TSB#0713007
Could this be related?
