Ariel Atom 3 is the lightest car sold in America today. The base model is 1400 lbs without any of the lighter weight optional parts.

lazyhater, the Atom is not considered a production vehicle in the US. Otherwise, a Caterham would come in a couple hundred pounds lighter than the Ariel.

7driver, the poster said "lightest car sold in America", I take that as all new car sold in America. He didn't specifically said production car. And what is consider as a production car anyway? Both the Atom and Caterham are made in certain quantity, is not like they are kit car made by some guy in his garage like a Locost that takes a few years to make. Lotus only sold 600 cars in 2007, not that much more then Atom and Caterham. You are right though, the lightest Caterham is about 200 lbs less then a base Atom.

I'll take the Elise/Exige too.

Move to California, I have seen Ferrari Enzo parked on a side street, unattended.

All other Exotic less then an Enzo and Veyron, are a dime a dozen on the street.

The exotic car dealer 5 miles from my house, has 3 Veyrons in stock in their showroom.

Hmmm.... People in California have more dollars then sense.
