2008 Buick Enclave CX: Smooth Operator

This weekend I put a substantial number of miles, both freeway and city street, on our 2008 Buick Enclave, and I am so impressed with its ride. It's remarkably smooth, and a perfect exemplar of why crossover platforms make so much sense. It's huge, no doubt about it, but it rides well, it slides around corners, and it feels confident and composed at high speeds.

In the past, I have taken issue with some modern sedans, like the Camry, because they're so smooth and disconnected from the road that you can go 100 and feel like you're going 40. Due to its size, the Enclave never feels that way. It's remarkably soft and comfortable, but always transmits enough feel that it won't catch you off guard.

Different passengers this weekend all commented on how lush and well-appointed it looks inside, its ample front legroom, and its smoothness. One friend even lavished it with his highest praise: "Pimpin'." Whoever thought a Buick crossover with three rows of seats could be *pimpin'*?

This vehicle gets the best mpg of any vehicle in its category (except hybrids of course). But honestly, is an ave. mpg of 22 conscionable today? Not for us, this is the only reason we don’t have an Enclave in our driveway yet.

Hey, kscng, the Enclave has a V6 and the Edmunds testers have clocked it at close to 24 mpg in highway driving. Do your homework.

Ought to have good ride at 4,000 to 5,000 lbs and massive gas hog v8 motor!! Until US automakers make lighter vehicles with smaller displacement more innovative engines, I'd say BOYCOTT them all!!

Do you people not read the paper?? Crude oil hit $109 a barrel today 3/11/08 and retail price of gasoline will keep climbing all this spring and PEAK in summer 2008!! Exxon, Pres Bush Jr, "Halliburton" VP Cheney & Republican cronies are fattening their bank account at our expense!! Vote those scoundrels out . . ASAP!!!

I sat in one of these at the auto show today and had a real hard time getting out of it. If I had a need for a large vehicle, this thing provides amazing bang fer the buck.

Still can't stand that color. You guys should've gotten the White Diamond Tri-coat.
