lol yeah right, this is Edmunds...they'll some how manage to make plastic scratch plastic, and probably worse than metal on plastic

with the new fob this will be the first edmunds vehicle that won't have giant scratches from the staff trying to put the key in.

This looks like the one for the Mercedes.
Anyway it should win the Edmunds staff over, You know how much they love a nice key fob.

mopar424: That "horizontal switch" is the spring-loaded release for the old-school metal key that lives inside the fob--the one you'd pull out should the remote's battery die.

They also have a Ferrari and an M3 BMW. That's pretty enthusiastic if you ask me.

What a nicely featured key fob. Japanese and European luxury cars don't have this many features in key fob. American car companies now just need to build better cars for this fabulous key fob.

My guess is that it's a keypad lock like what's on your phone to avoid accidental openings of the doors while the thing is in your pocket.
MSH 1 -- Being a semi-enthusiast site gets both the die-hard gearheads and the common commuters to this website. If you want true enthusiast reporting, there are many many other forums and sites you can go to.

What is the horizontal switch under the power sliding door buttons(if it is even a switch at all)? It looks like a dual channel type switch one would see on a garage door opener.
On another note, it would take 9 clicks on that fob to open all the doors/hatch, start the car, and unlock the doors, a la DGC commercials.

As soon as I finished reading this post, I smiled.
I love that picture too, and I look forward to reading about the Grand Caravan.

I am actually really excited about this car. My wife and I just bought a new Grand Caravan (in fact except for the color it almost the exact same van, but we opted for Stow 'n' Go instead). With a baby on the way it is time to grow up a little, and driving this thing is actually enjoyable. Who would have thought?

Inside Line is an "enthusiast" site, correct?
The long term test fleet is wrapping up with a Nissan Versa, has a car that is geared towards every enthusiast in the Saturn, the oh-so-exciting Ford Focus, and now a Caravan?
Sure. Enthusiast site. Riiiiight.
You have GOT to be kidding me.

Sorry altimadude00, but you've already lost. The long term introductory story for the van has already complained- about the fuel economy of the 4l that they *had* to have (couldn't see themselves driving a 3.3 w/ 4 speed auto or the intermediate 3.8l V6, and they want to complain that *they* are getting poor fuel economy in this van?). :P

Awesome. My kids thought I could change red lights to green for a few months. They didn't know I was just watching the other light and started saying the "magic words" when it turned yellow. Enjoy them, pretty soon they'll just think we're dorks.
I have a coworker with the Chrysler version of this van, who has come up with a nifty use for the swivel seats. It's a time out corner - when someone is acting up, just turn them around so they can't see the TV.
PS - I'm still adamantly opposed to TV's in cars. We've made it three and a half years without and I don't see us going there any time soon. But, I thought her story was funny.

Conjuring up the power of Dashing Dare-do Daddy Daniel, the first complaints will be how useless the swivel seats and removable table are.

"Then I had two kids..." We could put that line behind almost any automotive complaint - I used to think the suspension was too soft, I used to think minivan owners were fat and lazy, I used to think coupes were awesome. Wait'll both kids are sitting in forward facing child seats. Dan will start caring about rear seat leg room to - no BMW is worth all that kicking.
