Even BMW now is mining their heritage with this stunning Mille Miglia concept. Using a modified engine and chassis from the Z4 M Coupe, the Mille Miglia drums ups thoughts of their famous 327 and 328 models of the 1930s, as well as their long and successful racing career.
Snippet: The Mille Miglia was resurrected in 1977 as an annual rally to celebrate one of the world’s great motor races. All vehicle models that competed in the original races between 1927 and 1957 are permitted an entry... Highlighting the 22 BMWs that have entered this year’s event, BMW’s latest concept looks back to these great racing cars. In particular the BMW 328 Mille Miglia Touring Coupe that was driven into the record books and past the chequered flag in the 1940 race.
Notice the asymmetrical shape to the rear deck. That long thin red line is the tail light. Here's Inside Line's take.
You and I often agree, but this is one case where we don't - at all.
I think it's hideous, a mish-mash of old and new, big and small. What's that red thing in the front, a tow hook? Those lights look like spray-painted frisbees. I actually like the grille but the rear fender skirts and the side scallops are over the top.
My apologies but that is the absolute ugliest car I have seen yet. Retro, yes, thanks to gun slit windows and center winshield divider. Otherwise, a blocky PU. If that's a Bangle creation then the man's finally run out of creative gas.
So what is the NEXT retro-mobile? Will Chrysler go "all the way" to its 50's cars, sprung on a modern chassis?

Yuck.
Well, you're right about that. I think it's gorgeous.
Are you familar with BMWs of the 1930s? Especially the 328 Mille Miglia, which inspired it?

The 1937-1941 327 coupe is also presnt in this design.

The original roadster is gorgeous, so clean. I only see one seam on the entire vehicle. Beautiful.
This new one looks like a cheap kit put together by a high school shop class.
The asymmetry is trying too hard to be French. LOL
Are you and I looking at the same vehicle? I think it's a superb rendition of a neo-30's style BMW.
And yeah, it's a risky design, but that's what concept vehicles are all about. Explore new (or old) ideas, no holds barred.
