Ferrari 420 Dino

Oh Lordy, Lordy! A Ferrari with a smiley-face grille!

Other than that, this looks like another sweet ride from the folks in Maranello. This latest Dino is reportedly going to be ready by 2010, and will be powered with a 4.2L V8, mounted up front.

Hmmm... . I thought Dinos were "baby" Ferraris, with engines half the size of this one? ...And with a mid-mounted engine?

The profile - fenders/roofline - looks much like a Cayman.  Even the headlights in that shot.  Not a bad thing, just an observation.  A few too many details for my taste, gills and slits and stuff.  K.I.S.S.  Overall, woohoo!  And who wouldn't rather have a Ferrari for the same money as a Mercedes or Porsche?  Nothing against Porsche, but Joe Public doesn't know a $160K Turbo from a $70K Carerra.  I know many will say that's not the reason you buy a car, it's to drive, not to be seen in.  But you can't deny that for many, the more exotic badge will sway the decision.

It's Cayman meets Corvette Sting Ray.

I like the sexy lines, though.

The more I look at it, the more I think it's just a photoshop. Then I came across this on another site, which pretty much confirms it. Same background even:

Could well be a Photoshop effort—in fact I was thinking the same thing when I posted it. It's often so hard to tell these days, but the fact that the car is not due until 2010 lends more credence to it being Photoshopped.

Latest reports from Ferrari are this vehicle will "not" occur. Oh well, I tried...

Looks totally p-shopped. Bummer as that's sexier than the cayman for sure.

Maybe Ferrari should hire the guy that photoshopped this. It's absolutely gorgeous.

Automobile Magazine says the rumors are true.

"We've confirmed a top-secret project for a new, entry-level Ferrari to slot below the F430...Just as the original Dino, Ferrari's new entry-level model probably will not be adorned with a Ferrari badge." The article goes on the say it was to be a Maserati GS coupé, but with the 430 getting a $25K price increase, the Dino is a logical new addition.
