Suzuki Hayabusa = SPEED!

How's this for kicking off the weekend?
I think most gearheads will admit that sport bikes are among the quickest vehicles on the planet. With that in mind check out the video found
here at
Autoblog on the incredible Suzuki Hayabusa.
Specifically note the following:
• How quickly that speedo climbs into triple digits and beyond
• The speedo needle tops out at 220 mph (yes, MPH, not KPH)
The rider upshifts into 6th gear at 182 mph.
• The bike's redline is 9,000 rpm, but the rider has it pegged at 11,000 rpm...
• When the bike starts accelerating hard, which starts at about 50 mph, you don't see the road again until 135 mph or so. That means the front wheel is well off the ground until that point.
Now that folks, is fast!

Hayabusas are definately fast and I know some around here that are TURBOCHARGED! I can only imagine what thats like.
I don't think so. For one thing, the scenery just isn't moving fast enough. Also, when he's slowing down, the intermitten white lines aren't going fast enough. You should be passing more than 1 per second at 100mph.
The redline on the Suzki Eye-abuser is around 11k, not 9K. The bike in the video has some lame aftermarket revcounter decal that has replaced the factory one.
Yes, is fast, and sounds like a real thrill!
But why does rider want to lunch his motor? Redlines are there for a reason! Having an engine explode between legs (or possibly lock up due to oil starvation - this happened to me once (fortunately not on public highway)!) would be no fun.
kurtmaxx, the redline is 11k, not 9k. And just cuz the bike has a 220mph speedo, doesn't mean it'll go that fast. The fastest stock Busa tested went 194...
p.s. Welcome to 1998 everybody!
Organ donor?
Let me guess, bikes scare you...
faked! notice how slow even at 100mph (at the end) the road flashes. fake
I've seen that video, and it is most certainly real. But just so you cagers understand, sportbikes are off by about 15% at the top end of the speedo. I've never gotten an satisfactory answer for why this is, but can personally attest to its veracity. I weigh 185lbs and saw 175mph on my CBR600f4i (with just intake and slip on exhaust), which is utter lunacy.... I think my bike _really_ topped out at about 155-160. Turboed, blueprinted and built 'Busas will top out around 220mph depending on the rider and conditions.
Haha. I've been showing this video to everyone who would watch it since before the YouTube days. I would point out the same ludicrous details, adding that he shifts out of 1st at 80mph. Never gets old though!
