Spy photos: Merecedes-Benz supercar sheds its cover

You obviously shouldn't put much stock into the sheetmetal of this Mercedes-Benz SLC prototype, but judging by the hardware, performance is a priority for this two-seater. Stalked by spy photographers for two days now, the wraps finally came off this afternoon revealing some Dodge Viper bodywork, a set of massive slotted brake rotors and an incredibly long wheelbase. Some handiwork the night before by KGP yielded a 106 inch measurement from wheel to wheel. The true identity of this Mercedes-built supercar is still in question, but whatever it is will be big and fast for sure...

This might not be the Merecedes-Benz your SLC, yet it might be the new Super Car from Dodge, the one that Chryler is betting on that will strengthing its name plate? Chrysler is looking to get back in the Super Car Market, and I believe this might be it!

i think thats just a dodge viper, or a knock-off of the viper. sure doesnt look like a mercedes type car.

I like the Aston/Jaguar-like front end.

I'd like to catch a video of this thing in action. I'm curious how it sounds.

That is NOT a Mercedes-Benz. Too cartoonish.

Viper + Lotus Seven = Mercedes-Benz SLC? Whatever, I like it.

Stuscar, Didnt Dodge just give the Viper some upgrades....like a 600hp engine? So why would they need to take it further so soon.

Mercedes mule without a doubt as the current SLR was deemed a flop. I just want to know whats under that looooooooooong hood?

Why?

this is a viper wanna be at least it looks like it i hope bmw makes something that blows its socks off i am seriously not a mb fan they look like space shuttles

space shuttles dont look bad :\

I'm with hondacura on this. It's very likely it's a MB test mule using Viper skin. Just further proof how the "merger of equals" thing really wasn't a merger of equals. MB continues to exploit Chrysler product even after they've ridded themselves of the company. No surprise.

The front end looks kind of like a Datsun to me. I agree with the Dodge Viper resemblance comments.

wheelbase on the current viper is 98.8" in according to multiple sources, a wheelbase of 106" is a lot longer. it looks like the wheel offset is a little wide as well. the squared off front end has HUGE openings, so there is probably a large radiator in there, which would also mean HUGE power output, i hope. im not putting alot of stock into the bodywork, but the idea of the front end reminds me of the gullwing SL.

This is just a mock up.

Subaru tested the current Legacy using the previous generation sheet metal, from front to back.

Ill-fitting panels were the only cue that this was an entirely new, wider, longer wheelbase model.

Guys, this IS some kind of Mercedes- reports state there were AMG employees present, not to mention several AMG/Mercedes cars. Some even think it might be a Maybach coupe (Exelero?) because of the extremely long hood. Who knows, it's very early on; we'll know more over the coming months.

this car is a nice looking viper!
