Third row seats in full-size GM SUVs a target for thieves

Add this to my list of reasons as to why I don't like the third row seat set-up that GM offers on their full-size SUVs: They're easy to stealassuming the thief is strong enough to lug them away. In fact, after a bunch of seat thefts, the police in Long Beach, CA are now offering to engrave vehicle identification numbers under rear seats for free.
The moment these all-new GM SUVs were announced I knew this rear seat was a loser. It didn't have fold-into-the floor capability (which is also far more secure) like its arch rivals, the Expedition and Armadaand I knew this would come back and haunt GMwhich it has...
Besides me several Edmunds editors have commented on this missing feature. Editor-in-Chief Scott Oldham labeled these seats "Hernia-N'-Go" (
2007 Chevy Tahoe: Hernia and Go) after a session of removing them in order to fit some cargo.

What is the world does one do with a stolen 3rd row seat? I grew up "rural", so I would probably plop in on my porch and porch sit in luxury. Well, maybe a 2nd row seat would be a better prescription for luxury...
lol, look for the guy with the busted back and you probably found your culprit...
It doesn't matter if the police engrave your 3rd row seats. It's just as easy to sand the engraving off. Besides, it wont lower thefts. There will always be a market for contraband.
LOL, I guess thieves spend more time at the gym then writers.
there's a market for stolen 3rd row seats? Sheesh..... there must be otherwise they wouldn't be a theft target.
Well ya know, Chevy owners need to buy 3rd row seats from somewhere when they get stolen. lol
Add to the list of reasons not to like these seats - they're also far too close to the floor, so you end up sitting with your knees on your chest.
