Frankfurt Auto Show: Citroen C-Cactus concept

The Citroen C-Cactus concept is going to be right up there as a top contender for the "Most Controversial Design" award at the upcoming Frankfurt auto show—a show in which controversial design is pretty much a given. This is nothing new for Citroen, as being on the far edge of design thinking has long been part of their corporate DNA.

Aside from the styling, the C-Cactus concept offers some real-world (again advanced) thinking in terms of construction and diesel hybrid drivetrain.

Gotta admit Citroen—and the French in general—really get you thinking about vehicular design, as you've likely never thought about it before.

Look, it's a bull frog.

Some elements are interesting, sure, but this is over-the-top in a way only the French can go. It's downright bizarre in some places.

The taillights look like warts on a toad. You can't see behind you at all. The holes in the front bumper look like exhaust pipes.

I do like the moonroof and the airy interior. The headlights are nice but they're copied straight from a Mini Cooper.

Hah, I love Citroen. They're so crazy.

And lately their production cars have been the good crazy designs.

It's....different.

This is what would happen if a Mini Cooper and a Porsche Cayenne mated in Chernobyl.

When will the French automakers learn that radiation and mutation don't necessarily make superheroes?

We used to call the late 50's Citroen 2 CV styled cars "roach cars." I'm with you on this one Carlisimo - it looks pretty good from the photos. But I like the Fiat Multipla too.

I don't see much of a way to put a roof rack on this one though.
