2007 Tokyo Auto Show: 2010 Nissan GT-R Spec V

It's official, there will be a 2010 Nissan GT-R Spec V and it will be sold in America. A Nissan source has confirmed that a lightweight, more powerful version of the new supercar is nearly complete and will arrive in America about a year after the GT-R hits U.S. dealers early next summer. -- Scott Oldham, Inside Line Editor in Chief

I wonder if there'll ever be a V-Spec II.

As the current version will weigh at least 3830lbs in the US, I wonder how much weight they will trim off of it ? It will need to lose several hundred pounds to be competitive with the upcoming ZR1, and I don't see that happening.
This, of course is all idle speculation while my boss thinks I'm hard at work! The beauty about cars like the GTR is that it forces the other players to respond. First Lexus did it with the luxury market, now Nissan is doing it with the sports car market.

i do think it should be called a v-spec not a spec-v (my teal 02 sentra with the clunky shifter comes to mind)

I don't think the name will matter much. Look at the Blog with Ghosn, they have enough demand already, even before the first one is produced.

TRUTH IS FOR EVERYDAY SUPERCAR THE KING IS THE 911 TURBO OR BENTLEY GT. THE GT-R WAS THE OTHER BUT OF COURSE NOT AVAL OUTSIDE JAPAN. THE FACT GT-R IS A NISSAN FLAGSHIP VEHICLE IT WILL BE HEADS AND SHOULDERS ABOVE A POORLY MADE-ENGINEERED VETTE OR VIPER OR MUSTANG UNLESS YOU LIKE DRAG RACING 1/4 MILES. MORE OF THE JDM ONLY VEHICHLES NEED TO EXPORTED TO NORTH AMERICA ESP ELECTRIC & DIESEL. ALL HAIL GODZILLA'S RETURN!!!!

da....please dont type in caps. Since when is the Corvette poorly engineered? It may not have the craftsmanship of the Euro supercars but the Z06 easily outguns its competitors. The Z06 is a force to be reckoned with and now Chevy has the even more track oriented Zr1... Im a bit scared!

All I know is that the one photo I recently saw of the GT-R looks awesome---maybe the most exciting mainstream debut since Mazda's RX-7 back in the late 70s/early 80s (was it that long ago?). Check it out:

60K price tag ain't bad, either.

hey carfanatic, check out this link. the pics are spyshots of what appears to be the V-Spec GT-R... note the front splitter has dual air inlets not found on the current model as well as a carbon-composite brake system similar to what some Ferrari and Porsche models use.
