2007 Tokyo Auto Show Preview: Daihatsu Mud Master-C

The legendary VW Type 2 Transporter and Pickup reborn shod with hiking boots.. .
Anybody who knows me, knows that I'm a sucker for these kinds of vehicles—especially when there's been some creative thinking when it comes design. This new Daihatsu Mud Master-C exhibits all of that and more...
Note that the load floor sits over the rear tires so that that there are no wheel wheel intrusions, which allows for a perfectly flat load surface. The Mud Master-C will debut at the Tokyo auto show.
Man I wish they would sell this over here...

What a cool vehicle! I'd love to have one, just in a color other than delivery van white.
It looks like the truck and the van aren't the same vehicle. If they offered the van with a removable top, that would rock!
It looks like a new version of the multicab used in the Philippines. Hopefully this one doesn't have the 3 cyl engine. In the Philippines they also have the Mitusbishi Delica which is the same as this, it's a Mini van with a 4wd system looks almost identical. I visited a friend over there and you see a lot of vehicles like this and usually diesel as well.
This thing is cool, but I think any truck should be at least an extra-cab so you can adjust the seat. I hate that fixed bench on some trucks. Now, a double cab makes it that much more appealing to me. I'm always looking for that perfect commuter, surf mobile. And thusfar, I think VW bus/vanagons were the best. The Element came close though. Come to think of it, I'd like to see this configured more like a vanagon weekender. Yeah! That would be really cool!
That's a might short wheelbase.
Hit a curb straight on and you might roll over facing forwards!
For the USA it would have to be bigger, longer to be specific.
This is a great groundskeeper machine. Has a real market in Canada.
