Michael Schumacher to race Honda CBR1000RR

Autoblog (via
Motorcycle News) is reporting that seven-time F1 champ Michael Schumacher is to race a Honda CBR1000RR superbike this weekend at the IDM International German Motorbike Championship.
The relationship between motorcycle racing and car racing is nothing new. Many former bike racers, John Surtees and Mike Hailwood just to name two, all went on to become great car racers. What's unusual here is we have one of the best car racers ever going on to race a bike, which is the other way around...

No doubt he'll be competitive, but why?
Maybe he likes bikes?
Isn't he a tad tall? I don't remember his height (too lazy to go look too) but he seems a bit lanky to run one of these bikes and be at all competitive. I could be way off - just my take on it.
I'm reminded of the time Michael Jordan left the NBA for the MLB.
MJ is also into sport bikes and motorcycle racing. In fact he's got a bike race team.
