Spy photos: A Compact Porsche Cayenne? Maybe, Maybe Not

A new SUV has hit the Nurburgring and it’s causing quite a stir. With its Cayenne bodywork it appears to be a smaller, compact version of Porsche’s SUV. We’re not so sure, however, as Porsche has said repeatedly that it’s not interesting in going into cheaper segments of the SUV market.

So what it this prototype then?.. It could be nothing more than a leftover test mule for the Audi Q5. There’s also the possibility that this is a prototype for an even smaller Audi SUV that will slot below the Q5. Audi has made it public that it intends to boost its worldwide volume substantially in the next few years, so yet another SUV could be in the cards.

I'm gonna go with it's a Ferrari. j/k

Ugh, when will the Germans stop making performance SUVs.

Ugh, when will American's stop buying performance SUVs?

Haha

I can't believe that there would still be mules of the A5 running around given the subtle effects that camo has on a car's behavior. Seems they would just pull a preproduction one. by the same token, the obvious camo suggestion of a Cayenne leads me to believe that it's NOT a Porsche at all.

Aside from your theory of it being a sub-Q5 Audi, could it be the next BMW X3? That'd be an obvious choice. Perhaps a Caddy BRX? Just throwin' out small SUVs that have yet to break cover.

How 'bout a performance version of the Tiguan?

maybe a porsche wagon!
ew i hope not....

check out the floating left front in the top picture....this guy's not timid.
