2009 Nissan Frontier and Xterra

Nissan has released info on the 2009 Frontier and Xterra models. As you can see, it's mostly a minor cosmetic upgrade, with a revised front end and new wheels. Inside there's a revised dash and some package upgrades; including an Xterra optional Technology package, including a Rockford Fosgate sound system, XM satellite radio, Bluetoth, redundant steering wheel controls and an iPod jack, standard equipment for 2009. The Xterra also gets optional off-road roof lights... The Frontier gets a new PRO-4X model with beefier underpinnings.

There are no reported mechanical changes.

No powertrain upgrades?

Indeed. I'd like to see the 2.5 I4 made available across the entire Frontier line (instead of just the two-wheel drive, extended-cab models) as well as introducing it into the Xterra.

I'd like to see the 2.5L Common Rail Turbo Diesel from their Australian lineup added.

Trucks are going to be a tough sell from ANY manufacturer right now.

Trucks are not a hard sell. They are an easy sell to those who need truck hauling, towing, and off road capabilities.
The single cab Frontier/Navarra with 4 cylinder gasoline and diesel engines would be a wise addition at this time.
Nissan can't seem to understand how to equip it's trucks or it's Sentra at levels that meet buyers expectations. Nissan seems to be confused about the Pro-4X since they combine power leather seats with locking differential and skid plates. Not so great with the marketing.
