A peek at future Chrysler truck plans

FutureDodge trucks 555.jpg

How's a unibody replacement for the Dakota grab you? Or a BOF Jeep pickup? There's even a smaller pickup than the Dakota being studied. Yep, there's also a Ram hybrid in the works too, as well as a 1/2-ton diesel. Those are just some of the plans Chrysler LLC has in store down the road.

Also expect to see an integrated trailer brake controller for the new Ram 1500 next spring. This will also go into the completely redesigned 2010 HD Rams.

If you're left scratching you head as to why the Dakota replacement is going unibody, consider that the Honda Ridgeline, with similar construction, is outselling the current Dakota so far this year.

The Gladiator Jeep should have already been out if not for the shortsightedness of DC. It is a great pickup truck that is SO EASY to bring to production (as it shares so much with the exisiting JK) that it should be a no-brainer.

How something so cool as the Gladiator can be put on the shelf and retarded designs like the H3T 4 door can be greenlit for production... it shows the huge mistakes made by both companies.

Jeep truck based on Wrangler is already in production and being sold in markets outside of the US. Available only with a fuel efficient diesel.
Jeep was short on capacity to build the 4 door Wrangler and Jeep made the right short term decision to build the more profitable Wrangler i/o a pickup version.
It would never sell in the USA! (yes, I am being sarcastic)
Dakota is too close in size to full size and far too often it is more expensive (after incentives) than a full size Ram.
Diesel 1/2 ton program has been approved for over 3 years.

The window lines on that Dodge concept would leave the driver completely blind. When did glass (and visibility) go out of style?
