Lime Rock Park was closed down for an hour and half today to honor Paul Newman. He was attended by his family, close friends, Skip Barber, mechanics on his race team, and those who happened to be at the track. PLN toured the track in his Corvette race car with his Buick V8 powered Volvo station wagon following. He had come to say goodbye. Diagnosed with terminal cancer he is not expected to live beyond September. Race driver, actor, humanitarian, family man and friend, they did not come any better.

So sad.

Best wishes Paul....

Wonderful thing for Lime Rock to do.

I can't think of a better thing to do when it's my last days.

Racing contributed a lot to Paul Newman's life, and Mr. Newman in turn has meant a lot to racing over the years. He has been a fine competitor and team owner, a genuine enthusiast, and a Lime Rock fixture.

Kudos to Lime Rock for the kind gesture, and best wishes to Paul Newman.

What a class guy. Shame we shall not see someone to fill his rather big shoes anytime soon. I met him one time on a commuter flight from NYC to Washington DC. He was so cool treating all the fans with a smile and kind words. As we left the plane a woman that was ahead of him dropped a package. He swooped up behind her, picked it up and tapped her shoulder to return it. She nearly fainted when she turned and saw who he was. He and the rest of us that witnessed it had a really good laugh. Little things like that tell you a lot about the real man behind all the fame. God bless him and his family.
