Lots of news these days about what's going to debut at the Paris auto show, so here's a bit of a break from that: VW will debut their new pickup at IAA Commercial Vehicle Show in Hanover, Germany, which is held next week.
Rumored to be called the Robust, or Toro II, the vehicle will be built at VW's factory in Pacheco, Argentina. VW is claiming it to be a 1-ton truck, but not in the same sense that American think of 1-toners. This will be more of what we call mid-sized, but with a very healthy payload rating. Expect gas and diesel versions to be offered. That's the good news. The bad news is it won't be for sale here; at least not now, or at least until the pickup market rebounds here. So if you live south of our border, or in Europe, you can get this new VW pick-em-up starting late in 2009.

If it'll be made in Argentina it will very likely be offered for sale in Brazil. I'll sample one out and let you know what you're missing, Bob.
My cousin's husband owns a VW dealership, and they sell both commercial trucks and VW passenger cars.
