Lots of rumors flying about as to what the replacement for the Honda S2000 might be. One of which is a 3.0 V6-powered sports car. Other rumors include a larger 2.5 4-cylinder engine, a convertible version of the CR-Z sports car, as well as a sports car with styling cues taken from the OSM (pictured).
So, if you were heading Honda's S-2000 replacement team, what would you push for? What kind of vehicle do you think would be a worthy successor to the S-2000?Full story here.

I think a "base" S2000 with the current engine should be kept along with an S2000 Type S with the aformentioned V6 would do well. But we all know Honda wont offer a 2-model lineup.
A V6 would ruin the lightweight sportscar formula and turn the poor thing into a bloated grand tourer.
The F20C (and I assume the F22C) weighs in at a hefty 350 lbs. The J35 (most Honda V6s today) and the C32 (NSX of yore) both weigh roughly the same. The F-block is very heavy in the S.
Coming from the owner of a 2002 S2000, If Honda does offer a high performance roadster with a V6 dont call it an S as it wouldnt be an S.
Past Honda S (S600/S800 from the 60's) cars have had super high revving inline 4 cylinder engines and the next S2000 should stick with that formula as its a vital characteristic of the S lineage.
Id like to see a new, lighter, more compact 4 cly design with forged internals (like the current F20C/F22) with Hondas upcoming a-VTEC system. Go back to 2.0Ls of displacement (9000RPM) with 260-270hp and 170ftlbs of torque. The a-VTEC system as it should give the engine a much much broader torque curve and more peak torque over the current F's old VTEC setup and over the K20's current i-VTEC setup. I believe Honda stated the a-VTEC system would provide a 13% improvement in combustion efficiency and a very nice bump in torque production accross the rev range.
Honda please dont dilute the S roadster or make it some big, heavy, V6 powered roadster as Nissan will gladly sell one. Give us the same formula just more of it. Id REALLY REALLY like to see Cayman S performance for under $40K from the next S.
Some S history.

No V6, please. Keep it light, small, efficient.
This looks like an updated version of a Mercury Capri or Qvale roadster, not an S2000. It does follow Honda's current design trend of fugly cars though.
