2009 Detroit Auto Show: Brilliance Auto

#DAS09 Chinese automaker Brilliance garnered display space on the main floor of this year's Detroit auto show, but didn't have any new product info to offer.

A 15-minute press conference was barely audible to the crowd of media gathered 'round the Chinese executive (and his translator).

We think they said they're happy to be here, but then again, we're not really sure. -- Kelly Toepke, News Editor

I like the floating space cubes do they sell those?

Keep this garbage out of our country.

"Keep this garbage out of our country."

I remember when people said that about the Japanese and the Koreans.

The difference with the Chinese is they are improving at a rate far greater then either of them. I have never met a people so eager and willing to change and learn.

The first cars will likely be average at best but they will quickly pass the Koreans and the Americans.

I wonder if their shipping containers were "misplaced". New trade show attendees sometimes have problems with the logistics of US trade shows. I bet next year will be quite different.
