Question of the Day - Best time to buy a car?

Question: When is the best time to buy a car--what times of year--e.g. before the new stock come in?

Answer: People tie themselves into knots trying to figure out when the best time to buy a car is. In truth, the best time to buy a car is when you need to buy a car. That said, there are a few rules to guide you...

Usually, at the end of the month and the end of a model year, dealers are trying to make quotes and may cut costs accordingly. I advise people not to try to negotiate and buy a car at a dealership on a weekend because there are a lot of other shoppers (foot traffic) on the showroom floor and the sales staff will probably try to hold their price. Other strategies, like coming in just before closing and shopping on rainy/snowy days are less important than knowing all the numbers to negotiate on and being prepared to finance your car properly. If style, colors mean nothing to you, than buy a discontinued purple car at the end of the model year.

I couldn't agree more. If the car looks like Kool-Aid, you'll get a better deal
