Best time to buy?

The second half of the month is usually the best time to buy a new car. Sales targets and volume bonuses are key drivers of end-of-the-month sales. But here is something else to consider: most dealerships are willing to move those last few cars at or under invoice in order to hit their volume bonus, but once they do, what's to stop them from moving the price back up? Well, nothing really...

So here's what I suggest to you. Start your shopping after the 15th and shoot for locking down the deal about a week before month's end. Dealers are more likely to be close, but not over, their monthly volume target by then. And the taste of of a windfall volume bonus will motivate them to move the metal.
